"She wouldn't change a thing" by Sara Adlakha - Old beginnings?
This book is published by Forge in 2022 and has 309 pages.
Maria is a psychiatrist and she's pregnant. Silvia, a patient comes to her and tells her that she has come from the future to save Maria from her secretary, Rachel, who will try to kill he. Maria dismisses her as delusional. The prognostic comes true and Maria is shot but doesn't fire. She goes in coma and wakes up 20 years in the past as her 19 year old self. She has a choice to make. Go back to her life or fulfill her purpose.
Why has she gone back in past? What is her purpose? Can she achieve both? What will she choose? Will she get help?
The concept is interesting. You are a Tess repeater. You go back into past and either change the destiny or not. You live another life. But Maria is an anomaly. Everyone who has gone into past has done so after dying in present. Maria is not dead in the present, so she has a choice of going back. It's a conundrum.
Maria is a family loving person who is expecting her third child. Her feelings for her husband and kids are very strong and impact her behavior when she travels back. It's her dialemma about what to do that drives the story. The concept of repeaters is also interesting. The repeaters come back to fulfill a purpose and spend the rest of their life in past.
I picked the book on a whim but didn't regret my decision to read. The end of the book is also interesting. It's the future of the past.
Why did I read this book? In a whim.
What did I like? Concept of repeaters.
What I didn't like? Umm....
Recommend reading.
