The summer house by James Patterson

"The summer house" by James Patterson, Brenden Dubois - Race against time!

This book is published by Arrow in 2021 and it has 464 pages.

Four Army Rangers are arrested for raiding a house called ' the summer house' and killing 7 civilians, including a two year old girl. Team of Army investigators led by Major Jeremiah Cook is formed to investigate. Cook is an army veteran with a damaged leg. His team consists of Connie York and Manuel Sanchez - the investigators, Captain Alan Pierce - an attorney, Lieutenant Dr. John Huang - a psychiatrist.

Did the Rangers kill? Why? Is what Mets the eye true? Will there be political interference? Can Major Cook solve the case?

It's an interesting situation. The case appears to be open and shut. There is a turf war between these investigators and the lady sheriff of the county. The leader of the Rangers has unflinching support of his team. He refuses to meet with the investigators. There is an invisible hand that is not letting the investigators work. The force is revealed around middle of the book and then it becomes race against time.

Major Cook is convinced that the solution to this mystery lies in Afghanistan. Then there is a twist and it becomes race against time.

What is revealed at the end is on expected lines. There is no big twist there. This could have been better.

Why did I read this book? Author.
What didn't I like? End not exciting enough.
What did I like? Perseverance of investigation team.

Read if you like the review.
